It’s safe to say I’ll be rolling my face off at Lollapalooza. And I might be stoned for three days. We’ll see.

I follow his blog and bombard his ask box when I’m stoned. That’s about the extent to which I know him.

Question

Anonymous asked: what are some of your best memories from freshman year?

Reading Othello and Hamlet and realizing how fucking amazing Shakespeare is. Doing lines with A while J was passed out on the floor and D was offering me screwdrivers at 3 AM. Having a stripper rub her tits half an inch away from my mouth. Wrapping Tempest and Oh, Roger and exporting their respective polished cuts from Final Cut Pro. Watching Jason Silva’s videos when I should have been doing homework. The list goes on dude.

Question

Anonymous asked: What is something you would say to five different people at this moment if you could?

The thing is, I can say them now because I live in the richest country in the world and have a smart phone sitting next to me. But I get what ya mean.

John - Wake the fuck up friend. We’ll talk once your jaw is, uh, functional again.

Dad - Sorry about not calling back, I’ll get the shit straight tomorrow and report accordingly.

Mom - I’m not getting straight A’s this quarter. That’s OK with me.

Lina - Uh, sorry I guess? Three weeks ago you were telling me I was a pathetic asshole, now you’re upset that I flake out on plans? Ohkaay.

Zac - Uh, dude, you are underperforming. Like, hardcore.

Question

Anonymous asked: What is your biggest aspiration?

WORLD DOMINATION.

Seriously though, I don’t have a single one. Write screenplays that sell, shoot beautiful movies, understand and research human perception of visuals and stories, advance the possibilities of the human race, the list goes on…

So I’m taking a break from a character analysis of hamlet in relation to the traditional tragic hero to write this:

I’ve learned many things since I moved into my dorm about ten months ago. If I were to categorize them, I’d put human nature “tag” on top. After that it’s probably writing and cinematography.

Like every other kid, I came to school looking for friends. In fact, the hardest aspect of beginning college for me was finding true friends, as in, by the fourth month of school, I was legitimately hurting because I hadn’t found any friends I could refer to as legitimate people I wanted in my life ten years from then. I probably introduced myself to five hundred people the first month of school. Ironically, none of those ended up being one of the two I currently appreciate the most.

At this point, I’ve socialized with kids who are the definition of socially awkward(ha!), kids on the one way path to alcoholism, pill heads, potential future drug addicts, bimbos in both the male and the female form, and brilliant people of all sorts as well as idiots of every color. That’s what college is; all those finding themselves, some taking good paths, some taking bad paths. If a year ago anyone enumerated for me each stimulant I’ve tried in the past nine months, I would have told them they were absolutely fucking crazy. But I would have been wrong to make such an accusation, and looking at how I’ve grown as a person, I’m comfortable with all of those choices. They’ve taught me things about the human experience, about myself, and have gotten me into situations that have allowed me to see sides of people, as well as certain people, that I would have otherwise not have had the opportunity to have seen or learned. As someone who wants to in some capacity make his living examining these things and writing about them, this truly is priceless.

I’ve learned how to read people, at least to a certain extent. Granted, I don’t have the life experience of a forty year old, but one of my best friends is a really good fucking liar and that’s taught me a lot, both about the power of charisma, of talking, and of well, lying, despite its unethical nature. I’m not afraid to bring certain things up in conversation, I’m not afraid to go up to random girls at parties, I’m not afraid of many things at all anymore. It’s changed me for the better.

So you look at people and you see how their life experiences, how they were raised, and what they want from life — all these things contribute to how a person is bound to act and to treat both others and themselves. Granted, decontextualization may render your judgement totally wrong, but for the most part it’s a fairly accurate and wholesome way of analyzing people before you construct an opinion about them.

That’s all. For now, at least.
